The Lords Supper

The table is central to everything we do as Disciples. We hold that this meal of remembrance belongs to Christ, and therefore is open to all people. In the words of previous generations of Disciples, we “invite others to this table as we have been invited,” and seek to allow the extravagant welcome of Christ in this meal to transform us into more loving, open, and inclusive people.

Preaching

Theologian Karl Barth reportedly once said that preaching should be done with “the bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other.” The gospel, this implies, has something to do with the world in which we live. Each Sunday, Rev. Andrew Guthrie preaches about the places the Gospel of Jesus Christ intersects with the world in which we live. His sermons challenge in order that those listening might reexamine their lives, and seek to live as more loving, accepting people.
